Feedback Thoughts....

I read the "5 Tips For Taking Feedback Like a Champ" article and I enjoyed the reading. The two tips that I could relate most to are, "reminding yourself that having growth areas is a good thing- it means you haven't makes out on your potential". I think it is important as a human being to continuously grow because there isn't any progress in life if we do not grow internally. The next, tip that I like is, "Find the positive intentions behind your deficiency, and notice where it's a strength". I love the idea in any situation, turning negatives into positives. Often times, humans default to speaking on the negatives or focusing on it too much. The next article I read is "Eight things students should d when they make a mistake". I liked how insightful this article is to college students because as students we always need to know that there is help, which is a topic they discussed. We are all faced with stress and knowing that there a...

Indian Epics: Topic Brainstorm

Topics Krishna and Rukmini:  I am interested in this story because it reminds me of the story Romeo and Juliet. As humans we are always wanting things that are not necessarily good for us, like Rukmini and Krishna. Rukmini is Krishnas mortal enemy. I do not know much about this topic and but I can't wait to learn more about how Krishna fights for Rukmini heart. The way I am going to retell the story is to relate it to a struggling softball player, wanting to hit a home run over the fence. The point of the story will be to emphasize perseverance to reach a goal. http://ackguide.blogspot.com/2015/07/guide-krishna-and-rukmini.html Parashurama: Sixth Incarnation of Vishnu: The story of Bhrigu is interesting to me because I find it a little humorous that, Bhrigu gives his daughter-in-law and her mother sacred rice to bear children. I am interested in learning what it is about rice that helps he fertility of women. This story also talks about incarnation and I am a little famil...

Reading Notes: Interesting Ideas

Image
The Foolish Timid Rabbit The story is entertaining for the audience in my opinion, it reminded me of the movie "Chicken Little", when he would always yell "The Sky Is Falling!". This story made me think about a few things, one being, as humans we sometimes tend to follow false tellings or believe things that are not true and run with it. Just like the animals were doing with the rabbit. I think it would have been a great idea to change the ending as well. Possibly, to do something like shaking up the King Lion when they returned to the rabbits sleeping place or maybe having the Earth actually break apart. (https://sites.google.com/view/jatakas/rabbit) Two Turtle Jatakas In my opinion, these two stories are five star stories. The ending of both stories were great! I liked how the Author manipulated to king and his sons to thinking it was worse for the Turtle to be in the water. The ending of The Turtle and The Geese caught me by surprised but it was a lesso...

Reading Options

While reading through what we will be encountering through out the semester, a few things caught my attention. I was not aware that we could check out Kindles, with books downloaded on it already! I am excited to use this resource in "OUr" Library! For week three and week four, I am planning on choosing the Narayan. Ramayana (Kamban). In the comments it says this reading is an excellent introduction to the Ramayana based on the Tamil version. Also, reading the Reading Guide was quite entertaining, the best part is on pg.5, where it says Dasharatha gets special rice to get his wives pregnant. (http://iereadingguides.blogspot.com/2015/05/narayan-ramayana-kamban.html).  For week 5, I started watching "Sita Sings the Blues" and I am already impressed by the animation. Watching part of the video made me want to skip to week 5 of this class! I see these stories will be filled with drama, I have skimmed over Rama's Exile. It has to be hard for Dasharatha to exile Ra...
